Thank You For a Great 2023 Race

We firmly believe in the mantra "we endeavor to persevere" and embrace the mindset of never quitting. As endurance athletes ourselves, we know that the lessons learned on the playing field extend beyond winning and losing. It is through these shared experiences that our staff and athletes are bound together. That is why we come together year after year, on this special weekend, and why we continue to celebrate that spirit both during and after the race.

A special thank you goes out to our incredible sponsors, including Morgan Stanley, Morgan Franklin, Nassau Annuity, BornBound, Renpho, Polar, Wiz.io, and Hammer Nutrition. We’d also like to express our gratitude to Dr. Mark Klion, whose information was sent to you in a previous email. Additionally, we want to extend our appreciation to Brian Kelly, Head Coach of the Iona Water Polo team, as well as the men’s and women’s teams. We would also like to thank Cassidy Osher, Coach of the Iona Acrobat and Tumbling team, and Jacqueline Eshleman, Head Coaches of the Iona and women’s teams. Another big shout-out goes to Alyssa Tiumalu, Head Coach of the Iona Softball Teams, and the women’s team. And let’s not forget Craig Donnaly, Head of Manhattonville College, for rallying a strong force of over 200 volunteers to support us on BOTH race days!

Last but certainly not least, a heartfelt thanks to my amazing team. For 17 years, they have dedicated themselves to ensuring that every aspect of race weekend is safe and memorable for ALL participants, spanning from 4 years old to 80+ years old, in every race. Their hard work is relentless, putting in countless hours year-round to make this event a success. Thank you, team!

We extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for participating in this year’s race. Your presence is what keeps us motivated to continue hosting this event year after year, bringing together our incredible community of racers, spectators, sponsors, staff, volunteers, and even our own family members who support us through all the sacrifices that come with organizing a major event weekend.

Over the course of our 17-year journey, we have faced countless challenges that have tested our resolve. From unpredictable weather events to last-minute changes in our team due to unforeseen circumstances like illness, family matters, or work conflicts, we have always strived to overcome every hurdle that comes our way.

We firmly believe in the mantra “we endeavor to persevere” and embrace the mindset of never quitting. As endurance athletes ourselves, we know that the lessons learned on the playing field extend beyond winning and losing. It is through these shared experiences that our staff and athletes are bound together. That is why we come together year after year, on this special weekend, and why we continue to celebrate that spirit both during and after the race.
